Blue Crown Conure

Blue Crown Conures for Sale

With its intelligent eyes and iridescent feathers, the blue-crowned conure is not only a favorite among bird fanciers, but it also gained notoriety in the 1998 movie “Paulie,” which featured a blue-crowned conure with a large vocabulary and high intelligence to match. The love-stuck, sensitive conure in the movie had the voice of NBC’s Last Comic Standing’s Jay Mohr and was actually played by 14 different conures. The typical blue-crowned isn’t going to speak even a fraction as well as that Hollywood parrot, but the species is known as one of the better talkers in the conure family, though it can be a little difficult to understand.

Golden Conure

Golden Conures for Sale

Conures make wonderful companions, especially for children over 8 and senior citizens. Hand-fed babies are playful, curious, and energetic. Conures and the have oil-based preening glands, which means that their dander is kept to a minimum. This makes them a good choice of bird for families with allergies.  Where most birds have white down feathers, the conures have grey. Conures will have a life span of about 10-30 years, and the Conures (excluding Golden Conures) are relatively inexpensive. But, if you have a little extra money to splurge, the more expensive conures make excellent and entertaining companions as well.
All of our birds come with an extensive health guarantee: We guarantee that the bird you are acquiring is free from any harmful diseases and does not have excessive amounts of any harmful bacteria. Testing expenses are your responsibility; should there be any minor health issues that require treatment, we pay for all medications and all medical treatment at a Veterinarian of our choice. If a Vet exam reveals a life-threatening disease or serious genetic issues, then we will either replace your bird or give you a full refund of the purchase price. All of the above having been said, we will not nor have we ever sold a bird which we thought was ill. Since parrots hide when they are sick, we can not always determine the true health of a parrot visually. It is for this reason that we offer the above guarantee; you are not required to test your parrot, but if you do, we have a strong guarantee to insure that you are starting out with a healthy parrot. We look forward to a long relationship with our customers and their birds. Our goal is to be with you for the next 30-50 years, providing safe toys, proper diets, and non-toxic cages and play gyms for your companion parrot.

Jenday Conure

Jenday Conures for Sale

The Jenday conure is one of the most common medium-sized conures, just below the sun conure in popularity, but not in personality or charm. The Jenday is a member of the Aratinga genus, which includes the sun, gold-capped, and half-moon (orange-fronted), blue-crowned and mitred conures, all charismatic, amiable and attractive birds. The Aratinga conures make great companions for someone wanting a large bird, but without the space to actually keep one. What these conures lack in bulk, they make up for in personality, intelligence, and affection. The Jenday is the same shape and size as the sun conure, but its body is primarily green, with a bright orange and yellow head. The colorful head appears only in the mature bird, so you should cut a photo of an adult Jenday out of a book or magazine and display it next to your juvenile Jendays, which will be primarily green with mottled yellow heads until they are about 2 years old.

Nanday Conure

Nanday Conures for Sale

The nanday parakeet (formerly called black-hooded parakeet) is not a quiet bird, but it is a popular pet. They are affectionate toward their owners and talented talkers, capable of learning several words and short phrases. It's a medium-sized parrot that is also very intelligent and thrives on being taught fun tricks that are sure to entertain. Since it's considered an invasive species in some areas, check local laws to confirm this bird is legal to own.

Caring for the Black-Hooded Parakeet

Since they're highly intelligent, black-hooded parakeets require a fair amount of socialization and mental stimulation. Owners should plan to spend a few hours every day interacting with their bird because it will need sufficient time outside its cage. Nandays require a 3-foot-tall large cage which allows them to fly. If they have a larger cage, they can exercise when they are confined. At a minimum, a cage that is 20 inches square and 36 inches high is recommended, though larger is better because this bird really needs to stretch its wings. They also enjoy bathing regularly. Your bird will be delighted if you leave a dish of water in its cage. Many owners say that a pie dish is a perfect size. These birds do very well with multiple people and strangers. Introduce them early to new faces, and they will be very social with anyone who walks into your home.

Patagonian Conure

Patagonian Conure for Sale

As a great lover of Patagonian Conures, I would be prepared to put up with the noise inconvenience in return for their sweet nature. If hand-reared they are adorable and less noisy than the wild-caught birds that gave the species a bad reputation. But, of course, they need plenty of company, stimulation and affection to prevent their loud calls from becoming frequent. These Conures can learn to mimic speech. I found them to be amazingly gentle birds and that even wild-caught birds did not attempt to bite when handled. When an adult Patagonian was brought to a meeting of the Parrot club that I run, it flew around, visiting different people and landing on them. I was confident that it would not bite anyone -- and it did not. Few Parrots are totally trustworthy but in my opinion Patagonians are!

Sun Conure

Sun Conures for Sale

The sun conure is one of the more popular conures of its size due to its stunning plumage, its extraordinary disposition, and its exceptional quality as a companion bird. Sun conures are lively, vocal, and expressive; this is a bird best known for its beauty and its big mouth. The sun conure is approximately 12 inches long, and is most recognizable by its bright orange and yellow coloring, often mottled here and there with splotches of green. The sun conure has a black beak, white rings around its eyes, and a long, tapering tail. The sunny’s striking coloration and sweet temperament makes it a favorite among pet owners and a darling with experienced aviculturists because it is easily bred. Immature birds do not reach their full coloration for about two years. Though the coloration between the sexes is very similar, the males are said to be slightly brighter. Males are also said to have a squarer, flatter head and females a rounder, smaller head, though only experienced breeders are good at eyeing the birds and making an educated guess. Certainly there’s no difference in pet quality.
